“I am ready to come home and enjoy something that I have worked so hard for!”

Tabitha Keys and her son David are eager to get the “keys” to their new forever home with Habitat! Tabitha has been working at Bay Pines VA as an advanced medical support assistant since 2019. She is a single mother who was born and raised in St.Petersburg. She considers herself outgoing, friendly, funny, and generous and loves to travel when she gets the chance to. She is also adventurous and was able to pass this trait along to her 5-year-old son, David. David is a kindergartener who loves everything about dinosaurs. He can and will tell you all you need to know about them! He also loves school and is always ready to learn something new.

The Keys Family applied for the Habitat program after struggling with the cost of living and not having enough space. The two were forced to move in with Tabitha’s mother where they share a room and a bed because it was too expensive to afford their own place. Soon enough, the mother-son duo will have a safe and affordable home with enough space to play and grow.

The first thought that Tabitha had when she found out she was accepted into the Habitat program was that she was overjoyed. “I worked so hard by myself to get to this point and it feels so wonderful that my hard work is paying off.” She is very excited to move into a home where she will be financially stable enough to afford the mortgage and also support her family.

If you are interested in applying or referring someone to the Habitat for Humanity homeowner program, you can check out our Apply Page on our website for more information on how to get started.

“Never give up! It took me four years to get to this point its an awesome feeling to know you’re almost to the finish line.”
