Franchesca Martinez, a single mom, and her 12-year-old daughter Lina are on their journey with Habitat for Humanity. Their bond is unbreakable, and they share a love for hiking, cooking, movies, exploring new places, and spending quality time together. Together, they embrace their strong faith and enjoy learning and serving wherever they are led.

For eight years, Franchesca and Lina lived in an older home with carpets, but it wasn’t a healthy environment. Lina’s chronic allergies worsened, and the suspicion of mold issues arose. Their lease ending was an opportunity to move in with family temporarily, but finding an affordable and permanent place was an ongoing challenge due to the pandemic and soaring prices.

When Franchesca received the news of their acceptance into the Habitat program, her first thought was about Lina’s happiness. Their dream of a Habitat home, once just a conversation, now turned into a tangible reality. This house is more than just a structure; it’s a life-changing opportunity that will provide stability and a chance for them to focus on improving their lives and serving others without the constant worry of shelter.

Franchesca envisions evenings with her family in the backyard, becoming an integral part of their new neighborhood, and finding solace in their own nest at the end of each day. She believes in the freedom that having a house provides. She says, “My house will be the space where family grows, thoughts flourish, faith spreads, and love awaits.”
