“I will be a homeowner, not a renter. My children and I will have spaces of our own and I will have stability.”

Feta Cole has been a CNA at Carrington Place for 14 years and is eager to begin her journey towards homeownership with Habitat for Humanity. She is a single mother to three children: her daughter Euodia (age 18), her son Jameer (age 12), and her youngest son Levi (age 3). Euodia likes to hang out with friends outside of school. Jameer enjoys playing Fortnite on his Xbox. Levi loves to color and play with dinosaurs. As a family, they love to have fun by participating in outdoor activities or cooking together. “We have each other and that is what makes us very close.”

The Cole Family’s living condition can be described as “packed tight”. “With four people and only two bedrooms for us to sleep in over the years has become challenging,” Feta tells us. Their current home does not provide enough space for her children, especially Levi, to play around. Soon enough, Feta and her family will move into a safe and affordable home with enough home and yard space for the whole family to spend time together and make memories in. Feta is looking forward to being able to call herself a homeowner and provide more space for her children.

For anyone who is interested in applying or referring a friend to the Habitat program, Feta offers this advice: “Don’t be scared and always remember who you’re doing it for.” If you are interested in learning more about our Habitat Homeowner program, please visit the Apply Page on our website for more information.

“My house will be a safe place for children where they will call home and where they will be stable.”
