Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas & West Pasco welcomes four new additions to the Board of Directors as of July 1st, 2021, along with welcoming a new Board Chairman, Brandon Brayboy.

Caprice Edmond

Caprice Edmond is a lifelong resident of St. Petersburg. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Elementary Education with English for Speakers of Other Languages endorsement, Master of Educational Leadership, and Certification in Infant Family Mental Health from the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg. Prior to her election to the school board, she actively advocated for children in foster care and became their champion at school, in court, and at their group home. Mrs. Edmond served as a Guardian ad Litem for ten years. As an educational leader and advocate for children and families, she is active in the community. She has a significant and consistent history of advocacy for children and families on a local, state and national level through her work with unions and Parent Teacher Associations. She was the Grants & Patrons Chair for Pinellas County Council PTA; and, Pinellas County Council PTA lead contact for the National PTA’s Transformative Family Engagement Grant. She also served on the City of St. Petersburg’s Youth Development Grant Review Committee and the South St. Petersburg CRA (Community Redevelopment Area) Advisory Committee. As an instructional leader, she was a teacher and science coach in Pinellas County Schools, mainly in Title I and Transformation Zone Schools. Caprice and her husband, Jabaa, live in St. Petersburg, where they are proud parents of children attending Pinellas County Schools.

Dana Mayo – Founding Member & Executive Managing Director, Hunt Capital Partners, LLC

Prior to Hunt Capital Partners, LLC, Mr. Mayo was Vice President of Acquisitions for Alliant Capital from November 2008 to November 2010.  While at Alliant he generated transactions totaling $200M in LITHC.  From July 1997 to November 2008, he was Senior Vice President, Acquisitions and Finance of SunAmerica Affordable Housing Partners, Inc. a subsidiary of American International Group in Los Angeles.  While at SunAmerica he generated transactions totaling $1.25B in LITHC.  In addition, while at SunAmerica he was jointly responsible for developing credit and debt structures for the tax-exempt and taxable financed tax credit properties, along with coordinating and monitoring activities relating to the tax-exempt financing process.  From 1991 to 1997 Mr. Mayo was Vice President for Financial Security Assurance, Inc., a monoline financial guaranty insurance company headquartered in New York.  While in New York Mr. Mayo was involved in underwriting, structuring and insuring multifamily securitizations in excess of $1.0B.  From 1988 to 1991, Mr. Mayo worked for The Bank of Nova Scotia in Corporate Banking.  Mr. Mayo has specialized in affordable multifamily housing finance for over 25 years, focusing on structuring, tax credit equity and debt transactions.  Mr. Mayo received his BA in Economics from Skidmore College and his MBA in Finance from the University of Denver.  He and his family are currently building a new home in Belleair.

Lynn Skelton – Owner, ProSource of Port Richey

Ms. Skelton moved to Florida when she was just 2 years old and has been a resident of Pasco County since 1984.  She owns and operates a large flooring wholesale operation and kitchen & bath design studio in Hudson where she partners with local trade professionals to help them complete projects for themselves and their homeowner clients.  While Ms. Skelton spends a lot of time taking care of her business, she also has an intense passion for community service and outreach so she assists her local Habitat for Humanity chapter with many of their supportive endeavors in the community and is honored to join the organization as a Board Member in 2021.   “The Habitat program is a hand up, not a hand out and an amazing opportunity to change the path of families in need of stable and affordable housing.” When Ms. Skelton is not working or serving others she enjoys time with her 2 sons and is excited to become a Grandma this year.  She also enjoys spending time on the beach, watching the dolphins and the beautiful Gulf Coast sunsets. “I am grateful for all the blessings God provides and the trials in my life to become stronger in my faith and community.”

George Spowart – Chief Marketing Officer, Red Rover

George is a senior marketing professional with over 25 years of experience and a demonstrated track record in growing revenue and brand value. George joined Red Rover (a start-up moving and storage company) in January of 2020 as CMO. He is a senior leader involved in all strategic decisions and directs all sales and marketing activities. Prior to joining Red Rover, George served as CMO for The Perfect Workout, leading all marketing activities for 60+ strength-training facilities located across the US. Prior to that, George worked at PODS for 11 years including 5 as CMO.  He consistently delivered double-digit top and bottom-line growth. His innovative multichannel approach redefined PODS’ go-to-market strategies by utilizing better customer targeting to improve media efficiencies. This was primarily achieved through his initiative to migrate PODS from traditional marketing channels to digital tactics. Before moving to Florida and joining PODS in 2007, George was a senior executive with leading advertising agencies in Boston. He led interdisciplinary teams for both B2C and B2B clients such as Ben Hogan Golf, IKON, Comcast, Houghton Mifflin, Cybex, and the Boston Celtics.  George has a BA in Communications and English from the University of Michigan.  George is a former board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters (Pinellas and then Tampa Bay) and Chair of the Marketing Committee.  He also headed up cause marketing and pro bono clients while at Allen & Gerritsen (Boston Ad Agency).  He has lived in Belleair with his wife Soosie and their two dogs since 2007.  Together, George and Soosie own several fitness studios in both Pinellas County (Stretch Lab) and the Boston Area (StretchLab and Club Pilates).

Our organization will also be thanking two retiring board members: Tracy West, Tournament Director for the Valspar Tournament, and Ellen Hirsch De Haan, Attorney.

Tracy has served 7 years on the Habitat board and will term out on June 30, 2021.  Ellen and her husband are relocating to Colorado, as she has served 5 years on the Habitat board.  Both women have been instrumental in Habitat’s growth and ability to serve families in our community over the years.
