Dear Habitat Supporters,

Over the past decade, Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counites has increased the number of homes built annually. This significant progress is fueled by the vision of our Board of Directors, the execution of our staff, and the amazing support of our community, including ReStore donors and shoppers like yourself.

I’m excited to share with you that in 2023, our organization experienced a record year, completing 80 new home builds for families and individuals in need. The need for access to affordable homeownership is great, and we continue to see an alarming increase in applicants to the homeownership program.

I am also sharing with you the difficult decision that our organization will be permanently closing both of the ReStore locations. Our New Port Richey ReStore officially closed on February 17th and the Clearwater ReStore’s last day will be March 16th. The closure will provide the affiliate with the ability to be singularly focused on the homeownership program to address the need for affordable homeownership in our community. Our staff continues to be the top priority for affiliate leadership. The store closure allows for a restructuring of the organization, creating opportunities for staff to transition to new roles within the affiliate after the closure.

Please see below for more information on this closure.

We thank you for your continued support of our mission. Together, we will continue to build more homes, communities, and hope.

Sincerely,

Mike Sutton,
President & CEO

ReStore Closure FAQs

Why are the stores closing?
After extensive discussions with our Board of Directors and a nonprofit sustainability consultant, our leadership team concluded that the most effective way to move the mission forward is through a 100% focus on the homeownership program.

What will happen to the ReStore staff?
The staff continues to be the top priority for affiliate leadership. The store closure allows for a restructuring of the organization, creating opportunities for staff to transition to new roles within the affiliate after the closure.

Can I still schedule a pickup or drop off my donations?
Donations are no longer accepted as of January 31st. We encourage you to donate your items to another local nonprofit.

What will happen to your inventory?
Starting February 1st, we will begin liquidation sales on all items. Please stay connected to our social media accounts and website for more information on those deals.
