Habitat Pinellas and West Pasco is excited to join the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) in celebrating Women in Construction (WIC) Week March 1st – 7th, 2020. The focus of WIC Week is to highlight women as a visible component of the construction industry. WIC Week raises awareness of the opportunities available for women in the construction industry and emphasizes the growing role of women in the industry.
Kristi started her career with Habitat six years ago as a Site Supervisor, and has now been working as the Site Operation and Warehouse Manager for three years.
Her position consists of overseeing the initial phase of all of our houses, from the pouring of the foundation up to trusses. She is responsible for making sure the subcontractors meet deadlines, and she coordinates with her team to ensure the needed building materials are onsite so the houses stay on schedule.
To women entering the construction field, she advises, “Be confident in your knowledge of construction, and don’t be leery to have a voice in a very male-dominated field.”
“My proudest moments are getting work side by side and meeting so many wonderful volunteers and homeowner candidates, and knowing that all of the hard work will be making a huge difference in a person or family’s life.”
