“The teamwork, the love, the smiles, the inspiration, the advise and tips, the new friends and networks, the feeling of not being alone.”

Deneen Crawford, a native of St. Petersburg recently returned back home in an effort to accomplish her dream of retiring in her home town. Deneen, has worked for the Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC) as a Grants Specialist for a little over three years and describes herself as “lover of God, people, animals and our environment.”

One of our very important requirements for homeowners is the completion of sweat equity hours, which includes working with other homeowner candidates, volunteers and staff to learn valuable skills to better equip them for future homeownership. However, it’s much more than “just” sweat equity – take it from Deneen:  “The teamwork, the love, the smiles, the inspiration, the advise and tips, the new friends and networks, the feeling of not being alone.”

It is often said that the best things in life, don’t come easy. Deneen emphasizes this point with optimism, “It’s possible. You can own a home of your very own for you and your family. It’s not easy, but you have a team of people on your side. Anyone can eat an elephant…. one bite at a time”

We are very proud of  Deneen on her accomplishments throughout her homeownership journey!

The Crawford Family Home is sponsored by Steve & Nancy Westphal and was dedicated on August 17th, 2021.
