“I am always looking for an opportunity to do better, and achieve greatness. I thrive on challenge and constantly set goals for myself, so I have something to strive for,” says LaQuisha.

LaQuisha is a Customer Service Manager at Walmart, where she has been for five years. She is a mother to her three-year-old daughter, Da’Miley. “I am a very hard working woman, and I have worked for everything I have. I am a loving, caring person, who is all about God and my daughter.”

Growing up with a single mother, LaQuisha says that her living situation has always been challenging. She has always jumped around from living with family members, to renting apartments that cause her to move every year because of outrageous rent prices and extra fees. “We are always moving into a new place without being able to actually call it home. I didn’t want to continue this cycle.” In order to give her daughter more stability, she decided Habitat “is the key to a new route.”

“This will be a new start for my family and I. A stable, safe, and loving house that we will call our home. I am looking forward to my child playing outside in the yard, which is something that she can’t do right now.”

LaQuisha is excited to start her sweat equity hours, which is 350 hours that a single homeowner must complete on their own house and those of other homeowners. “I expect to learn how to build a home from the bottom, all the way to the top. I am going to put my all into this program to get it done.”

“My house will be loving. It will be a place of my own, a nest, and a refuge. A place where we can live, relax, cook, have fun, and share with friends and relatives with much more privacy.”
