Advocacy Ambassadors

Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties is excited to announce open enrollment for our Advocacy Ambassador Program!

Building affordable housing is more than just hammers and nails. Advocacy is an integral part of impacting the supply of affordable housing within our community and is thus core to our mission. If you’re interested in doing more and letting your voice be heard, Habitat seeks interested individuals to join our Advocacy Ambassador program!

Members will be asked to attend two 1.5 hour training sessions held monthly and engage in advocacy-related activities before officially becoming an Advocacy Ambassador.  Upon successful completion of training, Ambassadors have the opportunity to engage in advocacy efforts. This includes, yet is not limited to; meeting with legislators, email/letter/social media campaigns, speaking engagements, stakeholder meetings and public comment opportunities.

Additionally, Advocacy Ambassadors will receive exclusive advocacy alert emails, attend quarterly advocacy meetings and have unique access to both Habitat staff and local elected officials.

Orientation sessions are held monthly on the first Wednesday of the month from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.

The Advocacy Ambassadors Program provides affordable housing education, awareness of current issues and actionable steps that can be taken. Participants will learn:

  • what advocacy is
  • the impact of advocacy
  • how to advocate/be an advocate
  • social media training
  • affordable housing policy
  • and future steps to take action!
