“I’m very proud that Habitat of Humanity hand picked me to build a place I can call home.”

Angela Evans, a dedicated caregiver, is a single mother and grandmother who has recently been accepted into the Habitat for Humanity program. With a daughter named Crystal and a granddaughter named Kaliyah, Angela’s family is her pride and joy, even though they won’t be living with her in the new home. “I’m a family-first person,” Angela shares, emphasizing the importance of her loved ones in her life.

Angela’s current living situation has been fraught with challenges. “My living quarters are physically and mentally challenging,” she explains. “Water in the walls, mold, horrible allergies from the mold. Financial increases all the time.” These difficulties have not only affected her health but also placed a significant burden on her family due to rising rent costs. The acceptance into the Habitat program has been a beacon of hope. “Praise Jesus! Overwhelmed and grateful,” were Angela’s first thoughts upon hearing the news.

“My father taught us how to work on houses growing up. I’m looking forward to doing Evans construction,” Angela says with enthusiasm. Her father’s dream and prayers have significantly influenced her journey, even though he passed away before seeing the fulfillment of this dream. “His prayers and blessing have come true for me and my family,” Angela adds gratefully.

Angela imagines a bright and secure future in her Habitat home. “In so many words… GLORIOUS. It’s mine. I will feel secure,” she expresses with anticipation. The most exciting part for her will be “walking through the front door and blessing my home.” This new chapter will not only provide stability but also a space filled with blessings and praise.
